I wanted to let you know that we have received so many compliments on the beautiful job you've done on our house. It has gone from a 1930's cottage with an ungainly past addition to a gorgeous craftsman bungalow. You can usually tell where an addition has been put on to an older house, but Mike and Dave did a great job integrating the new work, both inside and out. They got the steel beam supporting the second floor completely flush with the first floor ceiling (I know that wasn't easy) and I love the way they replaced and tapered the vertical trim on the front porch to match the porch columns. Probably my favorite thing is the way the window seats and built-ins turned out. Your whole crew really did a nice job with all the details that give the house character. Plus they are just the nicest guys: they were considerate, responsible and dependable, and that's what made the entire process so painless.

The final product actually exceeded my expectations, which is kind of remarkable, considering that I have been dreaming about this renovation ever since we moved into this house 9 years ago. You made it all happen by recommending a wonderful architect, making sure that we got the right materials, and managing the process to inconvenience us as little as possible. Our neighbors were amazed by how quickly you got us moved back in. We had braced ourselves for the ordeal everyone told us the renovation was going to be, but it all went unbelievably smoothly.

I can't thank you, Mike, Dave, James and the rest of your guys enough for the wonderful job you did renovating my house. The end result is just what I had hoped for, essentially a whole new house that maintains the character of the original 1940's structure and of my Del Ray neighborhood. Your worked covered the gambit-new contruction of the front portico and second-story addition from the architects plans, major repair of the dilapidated side porch, resuscitating the flooded out basement living space, and minor handyman-type projects that I just hadn't gotten around to doing. The finished product far exceeded my expectations.

This was the third and largest renovation project that I have undertaken. Despite that, you and your team made it the smoothest and least stressful of the three. The job started when promised and, more importantly, it was finished when promised. The guys were on the site every morning ready to start work at 7am. My neighbors who are at home during the work week were very complimentary of their work ethic, their friendliness and their neatness ( containing the contruction trash to my yard where it belonged and not letting it litter the whole block). I greatly appreciated Mike and Daves on-the-job ingenuity for resolving a few issues that arose when dealing with a home as old as mine that contains no level surfaces or straight edges.

In addition to your own crew, I found all the trades people who worked on my house were friendly, professtional and willing to answer any question I had about their part of my project. You also directed me to excellent vendors for cabinets, tile, granite, lighting, and plumbing fixtures. Each of them used their expertise to help me make the right selections for my house. Each was also pleased to be working on another one of your projects, telling me that you were one of the fairest, most reliable, and honest contractors they had ever dealt with. Those comments simply confirmed what I had already determined for myself.

We are writing to strongly recommend Hayes Construction Corporation to anyone looking for an exceptional custom home builder who is competent, reliable and delivers on schedule a high quality and high value product. Throughout our home building project, Hayes Construction met the highest standards of professionalism and responsiveness to customer concerns.

In his initial meeting with the client, Bill Hayes reviews his building process and identifies what a client should expect of his company and what he expects of his client, and lays out a project time line (six to nine months). He clarifies that if there are contingencies that he cannot anticipate, those may raise the price of a project above contract price (we had bad soil that had to be remediated). In addition, he provides his client the opportunity to participate in the formulation of the project contract price by including their estimates, based on their choices, of the costs of such items as kitchen appliances, carpeting, countertops, cabinets etc. That enables those costs, rather than a general allowance, to be included fully in any financing that may be required for the project. Moreover, unlike many builders, Bill does not mark up these items by ten or twenty per cent. He charges his client whatever the vendor charged and he will share the invoice. Based on our experience, Hayes Construction delivers a high value product at a very reasonable price.

Another positive aspect of working with Bill Hayes is that he does not require all decisions about the house to be made up front prior to contract signature. For decisions about roofing, brick color, siding color, garage door style etc., Bill contacts the client about a month prior to the decision time and explains what is needed and what vendor to contact if necessary.

Finally, the sub-contractors that Bill Hayes uses for electrical, plumbing etc. are all professionals that are very respectful of their work environment. Because our building project was undertaken in our residential neighborhood (we demolished our old home and built a new one on the same site) we were particularly concerned about the impact of the project on our neighbors. Throughout the project Bill Hayes and his team were extremely respectful of our neighbors and maintained an exceptionally clean work site.

Overall, our experience working with Hayes Construction was very professional and rewarding.

The reconstruction in our suite of offices went extremely well...it is almost impossible to believe that we were able to keep working in the space during renovation.The crew from Hayes Construction took enormous pains to make sure we could. I've never seen a construction job where the crew took so much trouble to protect the space outside the contruction, to schedule noisy work before the start of our work day and to clean up all the debris and dust everyday before they left. I can't think of any aspect of the work that could be done better!!
